Vocal Workshop with Elizabeth Setzer

Elizabeth Setzer, former member and musical director of Kitka Women’s Vocal Ensemble, will be giving two afternoon singing workshops in which she will teach folk songs from the Balkan and Caucasus regions, as well as some original compositions from the Kitka-commissioned song cycle Apple Blossoms and Brine (New Folksongs From Within, 2013).

Elizabeth draws on her experience working closely with many of Kitka’s beloved singing mentors to offer an intimate workshop experience, honing individual voices while cultivating ensemble sound.

Workshops will be limited to twelve participants, and singers are invited to register for one or both workshops, as different material will be taught in each workshop.

Elizabeth studied music at Mills College (Oakland, CA) and Bulgarian folk singing as a Fulbright Scholar in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. This summer she will travel to Kenya for a music therapy tour, and in the fall and winter months she will resume her travels on the high seas as a piano bar entertainer on the cruise ship Carnival Magic.
