The Unleash Your Voice Choir is a treble vocal group that sings folk music from Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. The focus of this group is developing freedom in each voice while creating a strong and polished sound. We will sing in multiple languages, work on vocal tone and technique, practice ornamentation, and hone our group sound. At the end of the 8- week season we will have a showcase for friends and family. Details to be discussed during the season.

Briget’s singing philosophy is centered on the power that is found through discovering your own voice, feeling safe, and having fun while doing it. Through unleashing our voices together, we build confidence and freedom of expression while connecting with other human beings.

The Spring 2020 workshop series details:

  • DATES: 8 Sunday Evenings: 4/12, 4/19, 4/26, 5/3, 5/10, 5/17, 5/24, 5/31

  • TIME: 7pm - 9pm

  • DIRECTED BY: Briget Boyle

  • LOCATION: East Bay Community Space

  • COST: $225 for the 8-class series / Payment plan is available

  • Participation in the choir is by audition or invitation only (see below)

  • A private registration link will be provided to those who pass a simple audition pre-screening

Requirements for membership includes:

  • Pitch matching ability

  • Basic understanding of how to hold your own part while singing in harmony

  • No experience with Eastern European music or language is necessary to audition or participate

As space in the choir is limited, membership is by invitation and informal audition (for prospective new members) only.

The deadline for returning singers to register and for prospective new members to submit audition materials is Monday, April 6. Prospective new members will be notified of their status by Wednesday, April 8.

Interested singers should send a brief statement of interest and/or a description of your musical experience, a raw a cappella recordings (Mp3 or YouTube video link) of any vocal piece as an email attachment to this email address. (This can be as simple as a smart phone voice message recording of your rendition of “You are my sunshine”)

ABOUT Briget Boyle

Briget Boyle is one of the preeminent vocalists in the Bay Area's Balkan and Eastern European music scene. After performing with Kitka for nine years and renowned Balkan brass band Brass Menažeri for ten years, Briget went on to form True Life Trio with fellow Kitka alumnae Juliana Graffagna and Leslie Bonnett.
