Kitka’s New CD, SANCTUARY, Needs Your Support!Dear Friends, On May 12 Kitka returned to the stunning acoustic environment of St. Stephen's Church to record the final tracks of Sanctuary, our latest self-produced CD on our own Diaphonica label. Sanctuary’s playlist features meditative and ecstatic songs from Eastern European spiritual traditions woven together with folk songs whose haunting melodies and rich harmonies soar in resonant space. Several tracks showcase thrilling solos by Bulgarian diva Tzvetanka Varimezova, backed up by Kitka's lush choral textures. Sanctuary is inspired by our wildly-popular Cathedral concerts, in which listeners are transported by a continuous unfolding of vocal music. The sequence of songs expresses a dynamic range of emotion that flows seamlessly from ethereal, contemplative pieces to tunes that rouse with their earthy rhythms.
Once again, we're collaborating with a stellar production team: The incomparable, Grammy-nominated vocalist Linda Tillery is our producer and Tim Boyle, sound engineer for countless Hollywood films and cutting-edge indie artists (including rising star Joanna Newsom), is at the controls. We are very, very excited about this new album and hope to release it this fall. But Kitka can't realize this goal without YOU. Kitka must raise $15,500 to finish our Sanctuary CD. This price-tag includes expenses for the recording venue and equipment rentals; engineer, producer, artist and legal fees; as well as editing, mixing, mastering, artwork production, and manufacturing costs for our first pressing. Please consider a tax-deductible contribution to Kitka's RECORDING FUND. Every donation, large or small, will help us to reach our goal and will be received with heartfelt thanks. Those who contribute $100 or more will receive a copy of Sanctuary, autographed by Kitka's singers, hot-off-the-presses. Those who contribute $500 or more will have their name included among our recording "Special Thanks" acknowledgments. Contributors of $1,000 or more will also receive a pair of VIP tickets to our CD release concert and party.
