"Khidebi" (Bridges) is a new incarnation of Kitka's Georgian Community Choir!
Khidebi is a mixed adult vocal ensemble dedicated to the study and celebration of the vast sonic landscapes of Georgia and its surrounding areas. This 11-week workshop/rehearsal series will focus on the diverse harmonies and vocal techniques of the Caucasus and neighboring Black Sea regions, paying particular attention to the pronunciation, folklore, folk dances, and cultural contexts of the repertoire. Kitka vocalist Hannah Levy will direct the inaugural, Fall 2019 series.
Khidebi's inaugural series will also include a rehearsal led by Kitka’s Temple of Light Georgian Community Choir founder Kristine Barrett on November 10, a masterclass with Georgian folk song master/scholar Carl Linich on November 24, as well as visits from other surprise special guest artists.
The choir will meet eleven Sunday evenings from 7 - 9pm at a central East Bay location which will be disclosed upon enrollment. Tuition is $220 for the 11-class series / $165 for low income participants.
