FIRST UNITARIAN CHURCH OF OAKLAND AT 14th AND CASTRO STREETS

FROM SAN FRANCISCO AND POINTS EAST

• Take the Bay Bridge heading east
• Follow signs to 580/980
• Take highway 980 towards Downtown Oakland
• Take the 14th Street exit
• Go forward on the frontage road to 14th Street
• Turn left, crossing over the freeway
• The church is a 19th century brick building on the corner of Castro and 14th Street, adjacent to the freeway.

FROM SAN JOSE AND POINTS SOUTH

• Follow 580 North to 980/24
• At the sharp right hand curve in the freeway, take the 14th St. exit
• Go forward on the frontage road to 14th Street
• The Church is a 19th century brick building on the corner of Castro and 14th Street, adjacent to the freeway.

FROM BERKELEY, MARIN, AND POINTS NORTH

• Follow I-80 to 980/Downtown Oakland
• Take the 14th Street exit.
• Go forward on the frontage road to 14th St.
• Turn left, crossing over the freeway
• The Church is a 19th century brick building on the corner of Castro and 14th Street, adjacent to the freeway.

PARKING ADVISE

Oakland's First Unitarian Church is located just around the corner for the Oakland City Center West Garage (Enter on Martin Luther King Jr. Way between 12th and 14th streets). The garage is open until 11:00 PM and parking is 75 cents per hour. There is also free parking on the surrounding streets after 6 PM.

BY BART:

Take BART to the 12th Stret/Oakland City Center station. The Church is about 4 blocks away.

As you exit the station, look for the 13th Street Mall/Plaza on the west side of Broadway. Walk to the west end of the Mall/Plaza and you will be facing the twin yellow towers of the Federal Building. Walk through the atrium of the Federal Building (open til 8 PM - if the atrium is closed, walk around it via 14th Street. Walk straight ahead one more block to the gate of Preservation Park (lovely Victorians which house non-profit organizations, including KITKA's office).

At the Preservation Park gate, turn right and walk by the old City Library (under restoration). At the corner 14th and MLK Jr. Way, turn left. The Church is 1/2 block ahead on the left at 685 14th Street.
